Promote Your Website

Even before your web site is open and ready for visitors you should join as many email and discussion groups as you can and give helpful answers on bulletin boards. With each of these entries you include a signature file that identifies you. When your web site is open invite people to visit and tell you what they think if that is allowed on the list/board. Do not advertise, ask for honest critiques of your new site.

Continue to answer questions on the lists and boards offering your expertise and help. With each post include your signature file (if allowed) and let your signature file refer people to your web site.

Other areas that you must consider fall into the web design umbrella such as your key words and Meta tags. Every email you send out, whether personal or business, should include your signature file. Your URL and email address as well as the rest of your contact information, should be included on your business card.

New businesses that cannot afford personalized free hand outs will find that clear address labels can be printed with all of the information about your business, name, address, phone number, URL and email address and then applied to small purchased or hand made items that can be used as giveaways. This provides a personalized giveaway at far less than the cost of commercial printing on the giveaways.
